I have received some interesting emails from readers, from both companies and individuals, asking how to deal with Google on a number of issues. One of the most frequent requests is how to contact Google Customer Service.
First off, I need to acknowledge that Google’s Customer Service will never be a candidate for a J.D. Power Award. In fact, there is a special formula you can use to evaluate the level of customer service Google provides:
Take the promptness of a doctor’s office, the incompetence of a
DMV, and the worst customer service experience you have ever
had with a phone company and multiply it by 500 = Google

1. Main phone number - (650) 253-0000, press “5″ for Customer Service or Tech Support, where you will then be directed to the Google website where you can submit an email.
2. Google Adwords Advertising - (866) 246-6453, press “2″ for Adwords questions. You will be placed on hold for a mandatory fifteen minutes before the call is then routed to the advertising bureau–aka socialism, Google style, and you vill comply. When you are finally greeted by a real Google person don’t expect to get anywhere. Depending on your issue you will be directed to the Google website to fill out a form, or placed on hold for five minutes. After being placed on hold the real Google person will then direct you to the Google website to fill out a form.
It is not widely known, but Larry and Sergey review each form submission in the basement of the Google headquarters and secretly make fun of our problems.

There is the impression out there that only “the small guy” gets dissed by Google. This just isn’t true, for the most part. Google is an equal opportunity offender, with the exception of the largest brands (deep legal pockets) and most aggressive cyber giants like Amazon or eBay (deep advertising pockets).
An example of this is posted by Matt Heaton, CEO of web hosting company Bluehost:
“…Google is simply one of the greatest technology companies around, I don’t think anyone would disagree. HOWEVER, in my opinion they have a LOT to learn when it comes to service and customer relationships. I will spend over $100,000 on google adwords this month.
You would think that I could get some prompt service out of them. No no no… I get some kid on the other end (Of an email, yeah, no phone # for me blah…) with a canned answer. This has happened time and time again with them. They simply don’t learn their lesson.
Right now they don’t have to learn their lesson because they are the big bully on the block. Every bully gets his clocked cleaned sooner or later and google is laying the groundwork for that now.”
Matt goes on to say:
“Google has become so powerful that in literally every aspect of their business it is 100% their way or the highway. I know a lot of people that are choosing the highway. Do I predict googles downfall anytime soon? Of course not, but I do predict that it WILL FOR SURE happen eventually if you don’t take care of your customers.
For a company so big, they still have a LOT of problems. Maybe it stems from Eric Schmidt as their CEO. He used to work at Novell (Here in my hometime) and they had the same attitude. Their stock is in the toilet (Novells). Who know what will happen, but I tell you what I am doing.
I will do EVERYTHING in my power to spend that money effectively somewhere else, and when someone from google actually calls to see why we are spending anymore, THEN I will let them have it.”
My point is that it is not just small businesses and sole proprietors spending $1,000 a month that get the Google “You’re Not Welcome” mat. The best thing you can do is make it known–to Google corporate, the Better Business Bureau, etc, that you are unhappy with quality of service provided by Google.
I believe there is hope–I have a feeling Google is going to change it’s policies and support quality soon.

I have not been able to get to my primary gmail -whenever I try I wind up on my secondary…when I email you I keep getting responses that state you will not process my request and that I should go to your site (forum). I was tricked in the name of GOOGLE. A company name Google rich- Using the same logo for home based buisness. I found out after I gave them my credit card number. They did not mention any thing on the first page- They mentioned that they are not affilated with Google on the second page after they got the credit card number. Is this not a crime? We are trying to get a listing on Google just so if someone searches our website name www.TakeNASApublic.com it can be found.
We want to start advertising jobs, and look for support amongst the public for our quest and yet we submitted out site to google on 10-25-2007 and we can’t get listed.
We then decided perhaps if we called someone….Try and find a phone number on the web. Try and talk to someone real for just a minute or two to get a reason for the problem and we cannot contact anyone.
We can only rightfully conclude that Google is against taking NASA public or they are so incompetent and so don’t care about their customers that we shouldn’t do business with them under any circumstances.

Somebody is impersonating me in newsgroups, for the purpose of harassment. Their e-mail address is provided by Yahoo but they post to newsgroups through Google. I would think that Google would not allow
a second “posting name” identical to the first to be used in the same newsgroup, especially for harassment purposes.

I am trying to find a link to send feedback and questions to customer support, and there isn’t a single one. I seem to be in an endless loop that keeps referring me to discussion groups and knowledgebase, etc. I want to know what the heck “subscribed links” is doing on my account preferences page, and I want to UNSUBSCRIBE to it, but there is no info that tells me anything useful about it. Nor does anything tell me how I got subscribed to the ones I am subscribed to in the first place. There used to be a link on the help pages to send a message if you needed to. Not that they ever answered, but at least I felt better after typing a message and submitting it.
We have worked for 5 years to get a high Google search return for some keywords that are appropriate to our site. We finally got at, or very close to, top 10 results for those words this past summer, and two weeks ago we suddenly dropped way back to results in the 200-300 range, basically dooming our business heading into our busy season (Jan-Apr). We have changed nothing. Has anyone ever had any luck with Google in getting explanations for how they can just destroy you like that with no warning, and put competitors–with no serious content to offer people who have been around only for months–way ahead of you?
Reading the above comments, yep, you sure do invite your own customer service problems! It’s either because you are grossly understaffed, or incompetent, or have achieved level of arrogance which precludes the acknowledgement that customers even exist! But as you do manage to acknowledge your own communication problems, then unless you drastically change your corporate culture, it will surely backfire one day, but I wouldn’t dare to make any predictions on how it might backfire.
My displeasure rises from the download of Google Earth v.4.2.0205. Try as I could, I could find absolutely no clue what the original version was on my PC. It wasn’t given in settings/control panel/pgms to install or uninstall. Very uncleverly, there isn’t even anything to click on in the Google Earth window for upgrading. This feature is so common for many programmes these days, that I find it rather surprising that you haven’t yet caught up with the latest techniques for communicating with customers.
However, I managed to glean the information that I most likely didn’t have the latest version because it is now one which was released in November, 2007. Having downloaded this latest version I have added “v.4.2.0205″ to the title of the desktop icon so I will know in future of further upgrades.
But downloading Google Earth this time was itself a ludicrous problem because the site from which to download it was so user-unfriendly that I found myself having to register for comments, then found that wasn’t right, but I eventually guessed a try at something else on the donwloading site which, to my everlasting surprise, actually worked.
So, having had to recount all these totally un-necessary user-unfriendly complications, I now come to my actual complaint about this latest version of Google Earth. Upgrade? Good heavens, the word doesn’t seem to have been understood.
Various areas of the world’s land masses have been upgraded. An appallingly cheap editing pgm must have been used to match the inserts with the clarity of the original. Well, they’re not m atched at all. Thus southern Africa looks literally like a patchwork quilt, so much so that I thought there was something amiss with my download. But, not, this wasn’t the cawe at all. These upgrading patches don’t match the original at all, either in colour or clarity, because many of these patches seem to slightly obscured with a visual mist.
Although it is now off my screen, when I first opened the new version up came a tips window, the very first one telling me how to get to the information about the solar system and the stars. This told me to click on a particular command in the “Layers” column (it’s not on my screen, now), but which isn’t in the Layers’ listing. So where has it got to? I certainly have the updated version now running because of the irritating patchwork of appallingly badly matched upgraded areas.
So, what exactly have you been trying to to with Google Earth? Why has its quality now been largely spoilt by a so-called “upgrade”.
I am not at all impressed. A far better effort could have been more effectively and intelligently applied to the upgrade.

I use Google Finance for stock quotes, but they have a blog space for comments from investors about the stock. Google doesn’t filter the blogs - it’s more like a chatroom at AOL, hostile, seriously disturbed people taking personal attacks at each other - if you leave a comment, you get a really uncalled-for swing taken at you for buying the stock. I also lost money on Google stock - it’s hyped up over it’s real price - and so far, fell $100 a share, long recovery period - I think people are becoming irritated with Google’s attitude - and can’t believe they don’t have responsive customer service - so can definitely say: I won’t be buying any more goodle stock. I probably won’t use them as a finance site either. You can publish this.

We all love to be led around on a leash don’t we? That’s why google is the biggest. We love their cute name too. But, not long after you get your adwords account and you already spent a few thousand bucks with it, you find out that it was a total waste of money (unless you work at google, then you make the big bucks). If you lucky enough to get it set up and approved, don’t contact google with questions. If you do, you’ll probably get your account shut off by one of the self-appointed geniuses that work there. Even though, you were approved before your inquiry, now you are a leper and you have to be dealt with. The worst customer service possible, cached pages (not search results in real time), and high prices is what all us ignorant customers and new media people desire. We all could and should switch back to the search engines we were using before Google tricked us all. I been preaching against them for four years and nobody listens. Everybody acts like they are hypnotized. I learned. I hope the rest of you would. Google Sucks!

I could not agree more. Whatever changes they seem to make time simply stuck with them. For a company that is supposed to be so consumer oriented, groupthink abounds.

I’ve read a lot of the comments previously submitted and understand people’s frustrations when trying to accomplish something that is different or not what they’re used to.
However, my life has gotten ever so much easier as a result of using Google to search. I am amazed at how finite my request can be and the results I can obtain. I have found the most unusual products and facts just by typing in exactly what I was looking for. I needed a news article with a graph for a class so I typed that request into Google Search and got several, one of which I was able to use. Wanted a large faux pearl necklace, and found that, too.
I am absolutely amazed at what Google can help me do.

I had picassa 2 and gmail.On picassa one day all of my photos dissappeared and when they came back they were in the wrong places.Some are distorted and some never returned. Is there a reason for this. On my gmail it is in constant error. It freezes up also.
Well, I was bound and determined that I speak to a “Live” person over the phone so I dialed the 650 number and then hit 0 for the operator.
At first she tells me that Unless I have the first and last name of the person to whom I want to speak she cannot transfer me and is not allowed to give out names. There is no customer service dept. There is no Customer relations dept and there is apparently no management department that you can speak to over the phone.
I have tried the whole internet customer service thing with google and let me tell ya, it sucks. You would think with all of the drop in people buying stuff because of the economy right now that they would be smart enough to have at least a place for their customers to call. Obviously, they do not think very highly of their customers and they do not value our opinions or thought on what their employees do with the customers.
The only thing she would do was forward a message to the internet team about the problem I am having with google checkout.
I do not want to give my credit card information to a company who cannot even open a phone line for their customers. What if I am charged something on my card and cannot even get a hold of a person. The internet customer service seems like they are reading from a book and then when you ask them a Logical question they do not know how to answer.
My advice: Go somewhere else. There are plenty of other companies who have the same products and better prices and they also value their customers!

It’s June 1, 2008. I was searching for the winners of TV’s All Time Funniest fathers mothers neighbors. I recorded it on May 9, but when I watched it today, the tape messed up and I didn’t see who won. I immediately did a Google search because frankly, that’s where I find a whole lot of stuff, but not this time. This time all I got were results telling me that it was going to be aired on May 9, and like I said when I started, this is June 1. It seems they don’t clean up the site very often.
I am sick and tired of not being able to access Canadian contenet on the Web without first being subjected to a deluge of American information when my search terms are very specific. If I type in the search Canada Neurosurgery Jobs - it seems pretty clear that I don’t want any information on Neurosurgery jobs in the United States. I used to be able to get Canadian content on Googel.CA - but notanymore just tons of American crap!

You are absolutely correct. Google Adwords has what they term “Customer Service” reps, however, should anything go wrong with your ads and it must go to a “Support Specialist”, forget it! Google Support Specialists do not take phone calls, you cannot get them on the phone to reason with them, they make decisions predicated upon their beliefs…..right or wrong….mostly wrong….and then you have no choice but to “take it and like it”. Google sucks the Willie Wonka Weenie I can assure you. For such a large company to be so non-customer oriented is unbelievable.

I spent over $90K per month on a Google campaign and over $40k per month on an Overture campaign. We WERE Google Adwords customers. Our company is small and we usually pay Google about $54/month. You can imagine how startled we were to find a charge on our credit card for over $5,400!
We have been striving FOR WEEKS to have the erroneous, spontaneous charge removed.
Google’s approach is to 1) assume the customer is always WRONG (what did we do to make the charge?) 2) take literally WEEKS to receive permission to resolve the issue, 3) offer us a credit first–yeah, like that’s acceptable, and 4) take a week, after receiving permission to act, to credit the amount to our credit card. We are still waiting!
We are a consulting firm that teaches customer excellence and it will bring us untold joy to begin using Google as a worst case scenario as we define remarkable service.
I cannot describe how disappointed we are in Google’s non-existent customer service.

As you probably know the wake that SOS Master Ticket has made withe there fake website and ticket sale to V-Festival, Madonna etc i just wanted to know what is it you do in regards to vetting/filltering system to help people like myself getting stung by these people that show up on your web page that you run. I have lost nearly £1000 on tickets that i will never see all because i trusted Google to provide me with real trust worthy companys to sell me Madonna tickets.

Google is now in the process of blocking any internet site that allows people to freely express their opinions unless it goes along with their plan of censorship. I hate Google so much, so am happy to have this to link to! I hate the way they PUBLISH any book they want to, as if they own it! If it’s out of copyright, they just copy the whole damn thing.
And I hate that it’s been over a year that they have held on to the pittance I get from them for hosting their ads for a year, because they ask for my ss# in an email. When I go to my gmail the background screen is black.
It used to be white just like Yahoo mail still is.
If I use Safari instead of Firefox for my browser,
I can still get Gmail in usual colors. Please advise

I have to say I contacted Adwords for a cheque that they sent me which I sent to my bank and the italian posts managed to lose, they reissued the cheque, stopped the lost one, all very professional and quick.
I’d give them a 10 out of 10 on that one and I am not an easily pleased person.
Btw, did I say the italian postal service sucks? Don’t trust their “signed for” service, they’ll charge you for it but when you dig a bit they don’t even know how a sinple “signed for” service works!!!!

Thats funny, considering I called the Google Adwords Advertising number and was talking with a representative within 3 minutes of me calling…That wasn’t from India, he was extremely helpful with my questions!
Google has no understanding of the term ‘customer service’.
Perhaps it is just that they have made their money and now see no reason to bother with their customers.
But all companies who walk this path (Xerox for example) do so at their peril.
It is impossible to explain a problem using their automated online submission. But having ’submitted’ as you have to .. a reply is received stating (in my case) that the ‘investigation’ was ‘inconclusive’ = bad luck/ tough sh** etc .. and any further submissions get you the same (almost instant) identical email. Oh yes, they say that if you have any ‘additional info’ then go to the website (where of course you CANNOT submit it .
Several streets beyond pathetic!

Hi Google - I prefer a plain google home page, but as of this afternoon there are all these links. I cannot find a way to delete them all, and have only found a note that I could drop them into the bottom tray.

I sent several emails to cancel my supscription and NEVER get response my bank have copies of these emails and yet you still take money out of my account now I am getting a lawyer and letting them handle it because it states that you will send me forms that I would have to fill out and send back to you and after several emails no response now we will let the lawyer handle it so take google and stick it where the sun don’t shine.
Someone has set up Campaign #2 on my account which has 129 keywords and a £400/day limit. This campaign does not belong to this account. Google have taken £135.99 out of my account for the few days it was running. This is not my campaign and I consider this to be fraudulent.
I have tried to get someone or even a computer to get back to me, no joy after 10 or more emails/forms filled in.

In the disclaimer section its website is Online Business Systems, LLC, Scottsdale, AZ. It also has something to do with E-Sales Marketing of Cheyenne, WY. If Google wants me to type for them at outlandishly prices, please let me know. I really am a good typist and probably I wouldn’t have to pay for the privilege. If I were you, I would clip this scam in the bud.

In a google search for B&Bs in Louisville KY, my bed and breakfast, comes up. It appears that the information is from Trip Advisor. The WRONG PHONE NUMBER is listed, as are two very unfavorable reviews, which have no validity. (Some people just like to criticise!! I’ve been in business almost 15 years, with a spotless reputation.) There are 19 5-star glowing reviews on TripAdvisor to offset these negative ones. However, Google’s crawler has picked up the bad ones and the wrong phone number! I have 23 reviews on Trip Advisor and Google or their crawler has picked up the worse ones to display, when there are 19 “Glowing” ones!! I don’t get it! I went to their site, followed instructions and did everything they suggested; but, to NO AVAIL……….They are impossible to reach. When I tried their phone number, the final remark was “Google does not provide customer support by phone.” I NEVER got a person, only prompts with numbers and star-signs and pound-signs to press!! They are infuriating and this is extremely unfair. Something should be done legally about this kind of thing.They really need to replace those OLD negative reviews with a couple of the more recent good ones! Also, the phone number should begin with (502) like everybody else’s in Louisville. In addition to the bad review, no one, who goes to this site can call me; that is, if they still want to after reading those reviews! Google is really hurting my business!!

Dear Google, on 12/16/08, I tried to purchase items from Fastball Fantatics. I followed google’s instructions. I put all required nformation in. I then tried to do Google checkout. I tried to use your system because I was informed it was the safest way to purchse items via e-mail. I was un-successful.

For the past month, Google’s cache DOES NOT WORK!!
On every single site. I called AOL…and they could not get it to work either. I google a subject, and then click onto cache…and a page pops up stating “the requested URL was not found on this server.” then it lists aol server/3.4.2 on http://errors.aol.com.
Anyone else have this problem??? AOL did.

I made the mistake of ordering the “free” CD, “Making Money with Google,” and paid the $2.95 shipping fee using a credit card. To my dismay and disgust, when I received my bill, I had been charged for three different items, enrolled in three programs with monthly charges–and I have yet to open the CD. As a warning to anyone else as stupid as I was, Google is certainly condoning misrepresentation and fraud in its emails.

My complaint is about the inaccessibility of Google.com from Europe. Every day, an old route taken to reach Google.com (USA) becomes blocked off and the logo in the address bar is always different from that of Explorer. This is very frustrating for an American who created websites under American hosting companies and who finds himself incapable of reaching some of the sites. For the past week I can’t open my emails unless I’m in html mode. I’ve gone through all the help info and find that there are many others experiencing the same problem, especially Hughesnet users. But when I try to post my comment I get an error message. If others are as well, I wonder how many messages Google is NOT receiving from highly frustrated users. I am writing regarding the “work at home” offer that I recently signed up for with google. I was suppose to receive a FREE kit to get started that ended up costing me $1.00 (supposedly). My account was charged the $1.00 and the next day or so I received a couple of very “odd” phone calls from someone claiming to need my credit card number in order to process and comfirm my order. When I continued to question them I was then told that it was for shipping and handling costs for a “free gift”. Upon more questioning I was given, what I believe to be, a false name and then a phone number that turned out to be for ‘Gunthy Renker’ and did not match the number that was on my caller ID. When I tried to call the phone number on the caller ID I got a recording stating that the number was not active at that time.
I wrote an e-mail immediately, reporting this information along with the name of the person that called me and asked for a response to advise me as to wether or not this person, was indeed affiliated with ‘Google’ and have received no reply.
To compound things, while going through my bank statement this morning, I noticed a charge from Google in the amount of $39.95 for the “FREE”

The new screen format you have imposed on me is not to my liking at all. I have a property management business and someone has hijacked my name and created a gmail account and is asking consumers to wire money to Africa (obviously a scam). I had a similar problem with a yahoo email address and yahoo fixed it in a matter of hours. The idiot on the other end of the phone, you know, the “Customer Service Rep” for google acted like the entire thing was comedic. He was smug and rude. What can I do to light a fire under google to take me seriously? Who do I contact? News? BBB? Atty General? Someone is impersonating me and scamming consumers and these jackasses think it’s funny.

I am a member of several GOOGLE GROUPS and the owner of one of them. When I attempt access to my group and all other groups, I am told that the owner of these groups has banned me. I did not ban myself and even groups I never visited states the same. It seems as though the ‘GOOGLE BOMB’ has been dropped near me.

I’ve tested and I’ve yet to receive any ‘mail undeliverable’ returns. Whether or not they get back to you is anyone’s guess but at least this way, you now have all the email address’ and while I would never condone such things, you could always just flood their inbox until they respond to you.
You’re their customer and it shouldn’t be this hard to contact someone at customer service. I also know of a couple of websites where “unattainable” email address’s are published, as there are several other computer related companies that choose to shove their thumb into your eyes when it comes to any substantive and reliable contact info.

Hello, I have a corporation and I use Google Documents. I am having the worst time right now with it I can not delete a collaborator and when I try to delete something it wont delete and when I try to add a document it wont add. If I do not receive a response to this issue by this time tomorrow I will cancel my email address and I will be seeking legal actions since the information in my documents is confidential.

I keep hearing from my students about websites that offer Google Biz Kit that people order for the cost of shipping, about $1.98. It supposedly explins how one can work for Google by typing ads. Is this a scam?

well I have found some way of contacting google.
first get their corperate listing of their staff.

then get the telephone number for the office then phone.
try the top guys I am sure they will apprecieate the calls.
now when the nice voice says”which extension” wait for option for the names.(computerised) and type in the name of the person you wish to speak to.
Take a guess and if you have free calls anywhere just GO for it.
and keep at it until you get the result you are after.

I have a laptop with microsoft vista.I have Google as my homepage.. I seem to have ‘lost’ the Google Logo which I love to see each time I log on.All I see now is a Google button within it’s box.When I right click this button then click `Show Picture` the logo come back on the screen.,but it only stays while the page is active;if I log off then back on I only have the Google button again! I visited a website advertised on google for a 1.99 cd that would teach me how to make money online with google. I cancelled the service after learning that I would be required to pay additional charges. I received a cancellation confirmation number from google customer service insuring I would not be charged any additional fees. My debit card has been charged a fee of 24.97 from a company called A1 which I did not authorize. I then am told google has no live customer service reps at this time. This is very dissappointing coming from the world’s largest internet provider. There is no answer from the company that debited my account without authorization and no help from google who endorsed them. I must now find an alternative means of satisfaction.

Hi, this may be a long story but I really need some help here. I have had endless problems with Google Gmail and am having all the problems put together in one, this is me. My problems started some 3-4 months ago when I could not log on, then I figured away around this by saving Gmail in my favourites and then to log in from there, when opened I could then go to the “Old Version” and work as usual, but could not copy text directly to paste in word format. This deteriorated now that I can not log in to AdSense or AdWords with my Gmail and password as the page just load as a ‘blank’ and then it stick on “Redirecting” but this page can not be cancelled, closed or opened in another webpage, I need to restart my PC to remove this page. Is there a way in which I can uninstall Google/Gmail from my system and then reactivate it without loosing any of my Gmail information, I believe this may resolve my problem with a new installation. Can someone help here please!!! Ben

about the whole contacting google thing….good luck. i posted an ad on craigslist advertising daycare in my home and specifically checked the box to not be contacted for anything other…well in the week i had it up i got 67 emails from spam bots directing me to a link with googles “work from home” crap. i tried to contact google with your phone number and when you go to customer service it just tells you they don’t offer it and it hangs up on you. i finally got so sick of their emails i had to take my ad off craigslist. google is an absolute joke! i would threaten them with an attorney if they made it possible to contact them. only true pansies wouldn’t have a way to submit complaints..even the worst of websites offer that much!

You tube and Truveo have removed these malicious comments and videos from their sites as of June 22, however malicious descriptions about me are still referenced under my name on a Google search for Dr Stanley Taub, on page two.
Please remove them immediately. I think one of the hardest things on cheap hosting is getting the support you need. I do agree though that you need to watch out for what your talking about.
Google does not have anyone you can talk to to get the site corrected if you get reported as an attack site, and it takes to long to deal with the review. So I guess that they can take our money for adsense and all this other dumb shit that we pay them for but we cant take to anyone , way to go google ceo, yay!!!!
I downloaded the google toolbar a couple of months ago along with some family members and friends and now I am getting around 50+ e-mails from the google groups for adults. I don’t even go to those sites. Apparently, I am not the only one. Everyone I know who has google is now getting the same thing. If you go to google to ask how to get these off of here, they will tell you to copy and paste the address in a certain spot on one of the pages, but even after doing this to one of them nothing happened. I started a profile on google to stop them and still nothing has happened. I am furious with them and hope everyone in their right mind knows what to expect from google.

I was scammed by PROFIT STUDIO LEARNING. My Debit card was charged the $1.95. I was expecting to receive the google software. Never got it. BUT my account got charged the $69.90. I called PROFT STUDIO LEARNING at 866-993-1474, and I was told that they sent it by e-mail and that it was a Welcome e-mail, and that I was to download the website. Here’s the thing, I never received the website, or Welcome e-mail. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told NO, that there isn’t one available, and if there was, CUSTOMER SERVICE has been advised not to bother them.

After convincing a customer to use you services, we were left stranded by your technical service team. I am still awaiting a response from a email that I sent 10 days ago.
If I was wondering about the drawbacks of the host solutions model, I know now what it is. While you may have the best IT infrastructure, your costumer services including sales and support are one of the worst I have experienced.
We tend to accuse Microsoft of being the evil but after my experience with you, I am very glad that they are around and long life Exchange.

Next Google Checkout CRISIS:
Fortunately, there was not that much cash involved in my Google Moment. I pay for my Google Apps accounts via Google Checkout… and nothing else! Weeks ago I changed my credit card number as I had received a new credit card due to a fraud risk. Thanks to the credit card company. I dutifully followed all Google online instructions and deleted my old card and set up my new payment method. Then yesterday when they tried to charge for my Google Apps annual fee, I suddenly got an email saying there was an error and can I re-enter info. I have been through this before and so did not do it, and within the same minute I got another email saying it was charge through. BUT ….. ALL of these events occurred on the credit card number I had DELETED weeks earlier…. so this tells me they have SERIOUS SOFTWARE problems… I am not beginning to wonder about my email and other apps security. This is going out on the net!
The number of people who think this is the Google website only serves to prove that 99% of the people in the world using computers have no business using a computer.
I love how they take money from an account that has been closed over a month and of course no way to get a hold of them and now reading all your messages I was stupid to get involved with this company as well. I closed my so called account over a month ago. now may lose things because they took money i dont have. Lois
If only I would have read this review before signing up for anything related to Google I would be a very happy person…but alas, the tears have flowed, my face quite read, the stabbing pain have finally left my head and I can finally let out a deep sigh. Although it has left me shaken, I am all the wiser.
I keep hearing about how wonderful Google treats their employees, so I assumed (I know, I know) that customers, the backbone of there business would account for something and be treated with some sort of dignity…hahaha.

I have lived in the Arab World since 2001, specifically in Bahrain. In the early years, all you had to do was type in your query (in English, that is) and out came the search results… in English of course. NOW, however, even though I don’t even HAVE Arabic on my computer, I type in a query in English and out comes the result… yes, you’ve guessed it, in fucking Arabic. I don’t WANT the answer in Arabic, goddamit; if I wanted a response in Arabic I would have asked my query in Arabic. Now, here’s the bitch: Okay so the response comes out in Arabic because Google doogle think they’re a step ahead of me, and since I’m in the Arab world, and even though my query is in English, I absolutely MUST require the results in Arabic (sarcasm); surely all I would have to do is look for the box somewhere on the response screen with the word ENGLISH so I can switch. But there is no box showing me how I can switch the response into English.
I have personally demonstrated this asinine failure of theirs to Google people at trade shows in Dubai (last time was 3 years ago) and do you think they’ve done anything about it? No.
So, Sergey and Larry, if you ARE in your basement giggling, or ogling at this email, or whatever it is you do while your customer service reputation goes to Hell, I hope you choke on your giggles.

Since April 30th I have been trying to get Google to correct a problem that they (or my competitor caused). When you clicked on my name, his website showed up. I have repeatedly written to google to get them to change it, they did — IN PIECE MEAL, HOWEVER, the most important thing they didn’t do was when they separated us, the put HIS BAD/LOUSY review on with my listing and to date July 30th NO ONE has either removed it or called to clarify what the problem is. THIS LITTLE ERROR HAS TO DATE COST ME IN EXCESS OF $96,000.00 IN LOST REVENUE.

I am here sharing my experience using google adwords. I live in Shanghai, China and operate a small business. I’ve heard all good things about google and decided to advertise on adwords and here begins my horibble experience.
First two weeks I was spending around cny 10 (about $1.3)a day and got no leads at all then some girl from google called me to help me to enter a online training program and I attended. in the training, they have a plan called “golden customer plan” which you can have if you set your daily budget to cny 100 ($15), they promised to have a customer service person to have an one to one contact with you, SUPER!
I thought google is so nice to their customer!
The next day that girl from google called me and offered to help us to optimize our account, she said our account is performing poorly so I let her did the job, then I found in the evening my spending has rockhighed to almost cny 200($30)!!!! (I suspected some afflicate program fraud here) I immediately sent an email (the girl refused to reveal her extension so their “golden customer plan” is a one way phone communication) and the next day the girl explained to me the content search network could be refined more and from this day the content search search has been lowed.
In the 2 weeks our daily spending is close to cny 100 ($15) and had very few leads at all, after we had spend around cny 1000 ($150) we asked why our accounts had so bad performace, when the girl called back she explained it’s because our optimized account need more time to stablize, she said it should be at least two weeks, and when I asked her why we have almost non leads after around 1000 clicks, her answer is “CLASSICAL”, she told me it’s because our account has too low ctc (less than 0.04%), I agreed our ctc is too low but again no matter what ctc is, 1000 clicks with no leads, that means the conversion rate is too low, “BUT it’s bacuse your account has too low ctc, you need to let it run for more time”, I got confused.
I belived her again and she added some more keywords, compaigns to my account and then a miracle, she disappeared all together, I’ve sent nemorous emails to google and it’s not two weeks we’ve spend another cny 1000 ($300) and got no way.
It’s so funny google treat their “GOLDEN CUSTOMER” this way.
Today I finally called google china and tried several times finally got a girl behind the phone, she listened to my complains for some time and then told me the only thing I can do is “TO WAIT FOR EMAIL REPLY”, she told me she could not help and she could not set me up with a tech person, and she have no idea what’s their “GOLDEN CUSTOMER PLAN” and also there is no complaint department and finally she told me there are lots of other customer waiting and she couldn’t help me any more and hanged up the phone.
I am so pissed by GOOGLE CHINA (maybe your guys in the states have better experience I don’t know) I know almost think all they google china did is A BIG SETUP to hook you into adwords and spend some money and then abandoned you
1) they “GOLDEN CUSTOMER PLAN” is a setup to hook you in
2) they never give you an extension so you can call back
3) the optimzed your account to spend CNY 100($15) a day and it’s highly suspicious their content search setup includes some afflicate cpc fraud website.
4) They disappeared after you’ve spend enough money and kick your golden customer hard ass
5) they never replay your emails (no actually their reply is prompt at the begining,but then all sudden gone, together with their calls)
6) AND I SUSPECT GOOGLE CHINA is also cheating their customers through some faked clicks! why? see below:
I just did an analysis myself on my site’s apache log file and found there is an IP 202.108.201.39 making around 10 clicks a day on our ad. This IP is from Beijing (where google china operates) but my ads is targed only in Shanghai this IP is keeping visiting me after I turned off the content search network. I could not find any detailed information but it smells so suspicious!

THIS IS THE WORST SUPPORT EVER!!! I cannot get into my primary email and they tell me to fill out this form and provide a secondary address and then two days later they say they cannot varify that I own the email address that I inquired about but yet i can get the password user name and all my personal information correct. I try to reset my password through the website and it tells me that the username no longer exists but yet when I try to instate my username it says its already in use. 1)Finally I got an email from Google explaining their “golden customer plan” is a help program for adwords newbiews for 3-4 weeks telephone support. For me I only got 1 week support so Google is lying…
2) that suspicous 202.108.201.39 is still “clicking my ads” even I’ve banned their IP in google adwords.
3)I just discoverd another typical google cusomer service big loop…
step1, you send your inquiry through google adwords and you got a reply from them advicing you to visit google website first for help and if you still can’t find answer then you reply this email, they will get back to you.
step 2, you can’t find any valuable info so you go back and reply the email
step 3, you will be very suprised to see a reply from google saying they are sorry, from now on this email is only for notifying you and could not be used to answer questions. and to ask a question please use “contact us” in google adwords.
You see it’s a dead end.
4) other bad things I found about google:
in a recent advertisment from them (still about their golden customer plan), there is a link to the program but once you click it, it directs you to a dead webpage…. this is how google conduct emarketing…
Google does seem to make it difficult to open up an email account which they readily use to spy on their account holders. A company that wants to use targeted advertising on its email account holders should definitely have an easier account opening process and one that is less prying. They required me to give them a cell phone number to send me a code so that I could open a “free email account”. They said it was to keep down the spam. The only people likely to send me too much spam is Google.

I have watched GOOGLE and the other search engines develop huge profits from selling space to Merchants that come up when we query.
Wait just a dog gone minute! The WWW is not the World Wide Business Web.
I see no reason, I should have to suffer merchants that almost never live up to their claims, popping up from my queries.
If I want business I will look for them.
I just want the internet and information not a gigantic advertisement from log-on to Log-off.
I will promise not to buy anything online as it is stupid anyway. No level of security promised is worth the risk. And I will not do business with someone that can not speak straight or look me in the eye.
So just stop posting them. The business’s online are bad for me Bad for America and Bad for the Internet.

I agree with you regarding their customer service. I have been attempting to contact the company, and have been going around in circles. Using their website “contact us” link gets me nowhere. Calling their phone number simply leads back to the website. The company is located nearby. I suppose I’ll have to pay them a personal visit, however, I expect the door to be locked, with an armed guard disallowing entrance to any but employees. Maybe I’ll have to get a job there to have my issue addressed.

Then there is this google crome that is suposed to be so great. Well I would like to quit getting these notices that google crome runs faster because none of thoes new steroid types run at all. They all clog up the computer and no matter what I do they continue to go down. I tried most of them so far and most of them do not only go faster they bairly run.
I have had two screens up with the regular old E brouser on one and GC on the other. Usually the GC is still empty when I am using the information that has come over the old IE.

Look everyone, I’ve sat here in this forum scanning through every single post and one thing is painfully clear….GOOGLE HAS ZERO CUSTOMER SUPPORT. I despise it yet understand it. Customer service can be a nightmare and when you open the phone lines you also open up that can of beans. Google on the surface is a terrific company with an amazing suite of services. Services that you love and enjoy daily until the one day when you have a problem. As a result of the lack of customer support, this should be the day that they lose that customer but usually the customer just deals with it and keeps on using GOOGLE.
The only real way to show GOOGLE it would be less expensive in the long run to have a customer support center is to simply give up on them completely when you have a problem they do not solve. I know it’s difficult because they have their little fingers into almost everything that touches the web, computers & now mobile devices. There are plenty of alternatives. Hell I wasn’t even a google user until the past couple years. I always used to “yahoooooooooo”.
The funny thing is that I have both a yahoo & google ad account and yahoo spent 30 minutes on the phone schooling me on their services recently without having any real problems but google on the other hand will not even return an email and has bugs galore.
So the eternally burning question is why do I stay? I have a simple choice. 1# I either stay and deal or #2 In an effort to appeal to google’s common sense, I stop using them all together and never go back. See what happens when their revenue’s drop exponentially because all of us banned together and committed to leaving google. How fast do you think they would implement customer service then?

There is NO, ZERO, NONE, help at all from Google. Even if there has been a possible security breach, someone may have hacked in and gotten all your stored info, vital info and your contacts, they could care less. You ONLY get help if you have their PAID version. They are horrible at getting any info to their users. Today contacts in our Gmail for many people have simply disapeared. Not one statement from Google to at least let us know what is happenning or that they even know what has occured. I am getting the heck out of Google and will use any other provider that at least has some type of support besides a website that does ot help in the least.

I recently re-installed my Windows XP, which meant that I also had to re-install Google Chrome. However, prior to this time, Google Chrome came on with photos of front pages of recent frequent sites I had contacted. On the re-installation, this interesting feature was gone.

Today was not the first time this happened. I use the same password for EVERYTHING. When I was trying to click on gmail and get in automatically, it asked for my password, that, like I said, has been the same for everything for YEARS. I don’t need to hear about how insecure it is, instead address the issue. It has my screen name right on the front of my browser, so google the web browser KNEW MY ACCOUNT NAME, but when I tried to sign in, it told me it was the wrong password. I reset my password, using the “I HOPE YOU CAN’T SIGN ON” function that is supposed to keep web bots from reading anything more than log in names (like that is secure), but it still told me it couldn’t read my password. By the way, when older people like myself are trying to use those, they can’t read it either. Anyway, I reset my password for the same thing it has ALWAYS BEEN, and it finally let me sign in. Stupid. If you are working on the site, then you should warn people that some things might not work properly. If you want me to quit using Google, switch to hotmail and Bing, then let this thing keep screwing up and your customer service is a Q&A set up from a list of FAQ’s. Google has many OLD internet customers, if we quit using it, then your advertising won’t get looked at, people will use another search engine, etc. Please, I have remained faithful, you should also.

Its really sad to hear that so many merchants and publishers are having issues with Google’s customer service. We’ve actually decided to cancel our accounts and move on to other search engines. We couldn’t deal with the lack of customer service with Adwords. We’ve also moved on to other types of online marketing that allows us to tread away from Google’s politics and lack of service. Why is it that such places as Google and Yahoo make it extremely difficult to contact them by email?
I spent about 15 minutes on Yahoo before finding the Customer Service link and nearly that much time on Google to a link (not customer service). It’s a waste of one’s time.
Oftentimes, link after link on page after page sends you to the same forum or help page. Come on already!
I realize these two businesses must get tons of emails, but that’s what they’re there for - to do business.
In my case - For more than a year, I have been making a suggestion to Google about their search criteria. Today I see it has happened and all I wanted to do was thank them.

Like most, I have little good to say about Google. Especially in the area of customer service. But reading through these comments some common issues become glaringly apparent regarding Google in particular and the internet in general.
1) The grammar and spelling of many (if not most) who post in not just this forum, but all forums is so atrocious that it would be difficult for anyone to take them seriously. “Spell-Checking” is almost a universal feature of computers today. Use it! Proofreading and punctuation used to be taught as a regular part of an every day education in schools. Apparently, this is no longer the case judging by the near “undecipherable gibberish” posted by many. It is apparently acceptable by many to just throw out a string of unrelated words in a post and assume that the world knows what they are saying. Or perhaps the issuer’s frustration level is so high that there is a detachment from understandability. But who is the worst of these, the one who writes these strings of misspelled gibberish or the one who promotes it by publishing them? Psychologists call this “empowerment” I believe.
2) The apparent reliance of many on someone else to do everything for them rather than getting involved and doing any research for themselves. In nearly every review of “Gmail” that I have come across, the ratings for gmail’s security, reliability and ease of use nearly always ranks at the bottom of the lists. Yet, people by the thousands are signing up for it every day. Why? Is it because people have become so enamored by the “Google” name that they will blindly follow them wherever they go?
3) The apparent inability of the average person to comprehend even the most vague comprehension of the vastness and complexity of the internet. There are literally billions of websites in the world today and trillions of individual transmissions across the internet every day. Yet people act and react as if theirs is the only one out there. It is totally illogical in any sense of the word to assume that any one or group of search engines can catalog and organize these in any form without at least some form of problems arising.
4) People throw up websites right and left and all expect theirs to go to the top and somehow magically stay there. To make matters worse, the proliferation of unscrupulous people on the internet who are selling “magic-bullets” to get you to the top and keep you there is growing exponentially. Getting to the top requires either very deep pockets or work and a lot of it on an on-going basis. And, to make matters worse, it requires constant, on-going work. Because there are so many of dubious character trying to find ways to “beat the system”, the means by which search engines rank a particular website are of necessity constantly changing. Sometimes daily. Therefore, a person with a website absolutely must be in a state of constant research and change in order to keep up with current trends.
In the future, start doing your homework. Quit thinking all you have to do is “build it and they will come” and for goodness sake proof-read your work and use spell check. Maybe then someone will start taking you seriously and perhaps one day consider your complaint.
Yes, I posted yesterday and I deliberately did not fill in completely my web address, but the more I thought about it, the more I couldn’t help but think that I don’t mind if folks contact me. I also did a little more research after leaving this sight and became even more perplexed at the attitudes that some folks show toward any given issue. Now, it can never be said that Google is (or perhaps ever will be) a “customer oriented company”. But, the honest truth that each of us must face is that each of us in turn must accept a piece of the blame for what Google (or any company for that matter) is today, and the simple fact that they have become what “WE” have made them to be.
We, the users and supporters of such companies make any company what it becomes by our support. As long as we continue to support “ANY” company by our patronage, they will continue to be what we have created. As long as we continue to patronize any company, we give that company our stamp of approval as to how they choose to run their company. As long as we continue to support Google by using their services and spending our money with their advertisers, they will continue to operate as they have in the past. And will probably get worse before they get better.
Another very key point that we as a human race refuse to remember or acknowledge, is that business is about money and let’s face it Google is quite successful at that. From a purely percentage standpoint, it doesn’t require vary many people contacting their advertisers and letting them know that we will not spend our hard-earned dollars with them until Google changes its ways before those merchants start putting pressure on Google to change. But how many people are willing to take stock in their “wants”, or their own future by taking just a few minutes each day to target a few businesses for boycott? No, for many, it is just easier to complain a lot and then have the audacity to wonder why the company we’re complaining about doesn’t change.
One will never see any real change as long as a companies pocketbook remains full. Wal-Mart is a good example that nearly everyone who might read this can relate to. I have yet to find anyone who remembers the days of quality, who has much good to say about the company other than it’s convenient. Yet, these same people who dislike Wal-Mart so much will be among the first to also complain about jobs leaving our country and the loss of American jobs in general. Yet few know (or care) that from 65% to 75% of ALL of the merchandise that Wal-Mart offers (including food) comes from other countries. China is Wal-Marts biggest supplier of goods. One report I read on China even went so far as to cite a report that Wal-Mart’s imports were so large from China that Wal-Mart now has a great deal of influence in how the Chinese government is run. These things are not hidden or obscure from the public and fairly easily verified by anyone who has worked at Wal-Mart for any length of time because Wal-Mart as a corporation makes only minimal effort to keep these facts from being made public. Yet, we keep going back to Wal-Mart don’t we and giving them our support?
Bad enough this is, but why then do we continue to be so disillusioned at the fact that jobs are leaving this country? And, even more amazing is the fact that we will give Wal-Mart our dollars while complaining at the same time that our government needs to bring jobs back to this country. Oh what hypocrites we are! Google is no different. We will complain without ceasing about issues regarding Google and then turn around and do a search for something on that same search engine and perhaps even buy something from a company that supports Google with its advertising dollars. No my friend, we have in Google just exactly what we wanted and we have no one to blame but ourselves and we don’t like it. Perhaps, it’s because deep down inside, in those hidden recesses of our minds that we refuse to accept, we secretly know that Google is us. Perhaps, it’s the fact that we are an apathetic people that care little about anyone but ourselves that is troubling us more than what may be occurring within the hallowed and secretive backrooms of some corporate giant.
Perhaps it may be nearly impossible to contact anyone at Google directly, but we have at our disposal a much more powerful tool - our checkbooks. And this, they can never take away. But, this requires effort on our part and it may require a certain amount of sacrifice in time and perhaps a little less choice at first. But we can change who and what Google is and ultimately who we are. The troubling aspect to all of is that the hard reality is that few will take the time or effort to make a difference and the rest will ride the coat tails of our efforts. But then, such is the way of humanity today.

I own a dj entertainment company and spend $1500+ on google adwords every month since it’s inception. Recently I got a call from Google to dj one of their holiday parties. In my quote to them I added in the p.s. that I am a loyal. long term client and told them how much i spend per month. My fee for their party was my normal fee and is slightly above average for my market. I got back a letter(one week later)telling me that the fee is “Way more then their budget” and added “glad you are a fan of adwords”. Way more then their budget? Are you kidding me? Well my “budget” with adwords just decreased to nothing.
Coupled with the fact that after all these years of being an adwords client I can’t reach someone to speak with I’m done with them. I am firing them. I predict many years from now they will go the route of GM…..this kind of smugness, greed and shit customer service ALWAYS catches up to morons like this.

Well now I’m starting to understand why Google is beginning to give itself such a bad rep: Before I say anything, I’d like to point out that I’d developed a product loyalty to Google and was someone who always defended them…until now.
First off: About 3 months ago, I was using google search engine and one of the 3 top sites that opped up had a rootkit on it that corrupted my computer. I lost a year’s worth of files, pictures and videos due to the necessity of having to run recovery disks. Back then, Google had an email address that was easy to find, so I though they actually cared and wrote them about it, reporting the website. A month later, the corrupted site was STILL one of the top 3 that came up for that search.
Second Google offense against me came about a month ago: I was viewing various pages that came up about me in their search engine. About 3 pages into the search, Google STOPPED me and accused me of misusing their search engine, which I found to be very insulting. Again, I was able to find an email address fairly easily and wrote them about their insults and injury (I had to resort to yahoo to continue my search, which never gave me any flack about how many pages I wanted to read.
Well today, Google insulted me again AND gave me a page telling me that if I don’t bookmark the pages I revisited, they were recording my ISP and my service provider when the whole thing was GOOGLE’s fault.
I did a search for “what causes runtime errors” and visited 2 pages at the top of their list. The second page I went to offered a download site that I was apprehensive about trusting. So I back paged to the google results only to find that google had MOVED the 1st page I visited!
So I hit a few of the links there, looking for the one I thought I could trust because it claimed to be a microsoft supported site. I finally found a link to it on the right side, in the sponsored results. I went to the site and tried to download the tool they offered, but my anti-virus program stopped the download, claiming that it was virus infected (I was dumbfounded).
So I went back to looking for the other site that I didn’t trust the first time, only to have Google interrupt me with the insult that I was abusing their search engine, trying to drive “pay-per-click” counts up on those sites and that they were recording my ISP and service provider for the purpose of reporting ME for misuse!
So, now I understand why everyone is telling me to uninstall all Google related stuff from my computer and to use another (ANY other) search engine, because Google’s corporate greed has caused them to become very user UNfriendly.
If they’re that concerned that a site may get an extra 3 cents from me hitting a site twice, then they’ve really gotten too far out of hand.
I tried, to no avail, to find an email to write Google about this and they’ve conveniently hidden their email address so well that I can’t find it. I’m afraid to use their search engine too much to look for it because they’ll accuse me (AGAIN) of trying to drive up “pay-per-clicks”.
We need new legislation to stop search engines like Google from even offering a “pay-per-click” option or service if they’re really so unconcerned about how we, the customers/users of their service, will be treated if we can’t find what we’re looking for right away, or if we’d like to read more than 10 pages about a given subject in any given evening.
Google never addressed the issue of the virus corrupted website that still pops up as one of the 3 top options in the search results for the search I did 3 months ago. And, now, they want to report ME! Well who do I go to to report GOOGLE? They’re the ones who’re in the wrong on all of these occasions!
I’ve lost my product loyalty to Google and I’ll be requesting that my next laptop not have any Google stuff in it. I can’t even believe the insult to injury.

No doubt customer service sucks, but can you imagine the amount of clueless morons they have to deal with every day? I put my email address there but 3 out of 4 times I wouldn’t be able to check my mail anyway if you were to write back. Gmail is my primary email and I signed up for it at first opportunity. In the past 6 months most of the time I can not even get to the Gmail page to log in. I come to find help in the google help section and the links do the same as gmails webpage. It is unnacceptable to not be able to get to your email for two days! When is google going to fix this? It has been going on for far too long!
i think it’s rite & about time you stopped dealing with

I have been trying to contact google and ask them a question, not based off of a problem. There is almost no way to communicate to google via email without having a problem. I am tired of being dismissed by other websites and I was hoping that “revolutionary” google would finally help

My Way Websearch has attacked my computer, from where i don’t know. It says powered by Google. So, I would like for Google to remove My Way Websearch from my computer. A task that no one else can do. It will not remove, it will not go away and since it is powered by Google, I am holding Google responsible. Google is now asking cell phone number to create an account ??? whether it’s Youtube or Google now before we make an account, we are asked to give out our private cell phone number so they can send us sms (text message code) to activate the account which is charge btw by our phone company ! is this a joke millions of people uses Google everyday and to know that Google is “forcing” People to give out privacy online is ridiculous! i will not pay for anything from Google,not mentioning it’s people like us that is making them Rich i want to know how i can get in contact with Google ! so i can send them what they will charge me on my cell ! cause i will not pay for anything ! who do i talk to ?

I keep getting an error message from you saying my email address is already in use and for me to choose another one. sorry, but is never going to happen. I have had this one for 7-8 years. I have no intention of changing about it whatsoever, merely for the PRIVILEGE of allowing you to service me. So, I will shop elsewhere (probably in person)

I am an average Joe who after having knee surgery on both knees decided that having an email account would be a good idea, as I was bed ridden. The main attraction of course was the spam box as this was a nice way of avoiding anything harmful in to my account or in to my computer as this had happened before but alas this is not to be for Google took this away from me with no letter no warning and no help no suport and this problem is not listed anywere and I would know after serching for 9 months

In Nov. 2009 we had a disgruntled tennant at our apt.house who as a vindictive move due to being evicted, made false accusations about having bedbugs, etc. in our facility at 038 s.w. porter. This was a false report and we had Eden Pest Technologies come as a precautionary measure to protect our building and other tennants, and had them do a complete inspection and spray for the bugs.There were no bugs found.
