I have recently just submitted two companies to Google Maps and each time I have gone in and edited them and even verified them... however, I go back in two minutes later and the site has been suspended. Please let me know what I can do to get around this.. or if something is wrong with my IP... or ... etc.

[...] WARNING: But DO NOT write fake or made up reviews about your business. You can always tell when they are made up and eventually someone will catch you and call you on it. It could even cost loads of cash. If you need to resort to fake reviews, then you should rethink why you are in business. If your business provides real value and you take an active roll in asking for reviews, you can easily get them.
Hi,
Thanks. This is a good review of creating appropriate listings.

I wonder about the point of adding service keywords (your "graphic design" example) to the business title.
Many other local SEOs mention that having keywords there is an important ranking factor.

But it seems from the Google guidelines that adding keywords there is spam. So I cannot figure out for the life of me why Google considers it a factor at all in their rankings.

It just gives an unfair advantage to business owners who were uninspired enough to name their businesses "city name + service"

Is it just me or is Google Local Search very broken?

John,

I haven't seen Google provide an in-depth description for a "fake" review but I assume they are referring to any reviews that are contrived. Google doesn't spend much time or resources "policing" fake reviews. If a review is flagged as inappropriate by individuals other than the business owner/representative, and the review is found to violate Google Maps policies, it may be removed.

You're right, you can have an opinion about a business without being a customer. Just remember that as a reviewer, you are putting your name and credibility out there.

How does google define a fake review.. fake is a very vague term. Is a review posted by a non customer a fake review if they do not claim to be a customer? I can have an opinion of a business without being a customer. AS long as I don't claim to be a customer I have not been deceptive.
