Good point, Mike--get them started on Local Listing Ads and then educate/convert them to AdWords.

I too am surprised we haven't seen any promotion yet for the rollout of Local Listing Ads.

Nice follow up on my letter Tom. I would have gotten back sooner but I have been out of town.

I have to tend to agree with you that adwords brings a better opportunity for customized search terms than local listings ever will. I am just surprised that the ads seemed to have been benched. I thought we would see promotion starting in for local listing ads early 2010 and then converting those who sign up into adwords once they understand internet marketing better...not visa versa.

Thats just my two cents!

Thanks, Matthew. I agree--it will be interesting to see how local evolves this year on Google. I have a feeling there may be some surprises.

Tom,

You make some great points. There is more money in regular PPC than the local listing ads, that's why I see PPC winning over those local listing ads they were testing with. I can't wait to see what comes down the pipe this year with local advertising on Google.
